The Microarray Facility is used for genome-wide splicing and expression analyses of diverse organisms, from microbes to humans. It supports both spotted microscope slide and Affymetrix microarray research. Equipment includes an Affymetrix GeneChip system, a robotic microscope slide arrayer, an Axon slide scanner, and a 96-channel automated liquid handler (Hydra, Robbins Scientific). The facility is supervised by Professor Manny Ares and Microarray Specialist Lily Shiue (photo at right). The staff offers wet lab expertise to investigators, with bioinformatics specialists from the School of Engineering providing computational support. For insight into the collaborative efforts that led to the establishment of the facility, see the following interview with Professor Manny Ares. Click here to access the Ares Lab home page. |
