Genome Sequencing Center

The UCSC Genome Sequencing Center houses a Next Generation Genetic Analysis System, ABI SOLiD Sequencing, and a state-of-the-art high-throughput DNA sequencer. In addition, the facility is equipped with a Pyrosequencing, and a collection of different bioanalyzers, such as real time PCR, a Luminex 200 Agilent bioanalyzer, a Microarray printer and scanner. Robotics will be added to the facility to allow high-throughput sample preparation for high-throughput DNA sequencing.

UCSC scientists will use the facility for different applications such as; resequence whole genome (microbial, fungi human), targeted resequencing, gene expression analysis and microRNA discovery.

The Genome Sequencing Center is directed by Professor Nader Pourmand (Dept. of Biomolecular Engineering).
